• Walked up grouse for 1 to 5 hunters, guided by experienced gamekeepers.

• Driven grouse available in 2026 for parties of 6 or more.

• Pheasant and partridge walked up or driven, in both Highland Perthshire and the Borders.

• In October you can mix days (grouse and partridge, or pheasant and partridge) for a balanced week and different styles of hunting.

A Guest Story from the Hill

Morning on the moor begins with a short drive up through rolling Borders countryside, wild and majestic beneath a wide sky. The gamekeeper, dressed in traditional tweeds, leads the way with his dogs working eagerly ahead. Heather carpets the slopes in purple, the breeze carrying the faint call of grouse hidden in the cover.

The line is set and the wind is in the right quarter. The pointer holds steady, every muscle tight, before flushing a covey. The birds lift fast and low, wings beating hard, and two clean shots ring out. The dog is sent, swift and sure, and the birds are neatly retrieved. With that, the rhythm of the day is found.

Lunch is taken simply in the field, with views across the glen that make everything taste better. In the evening, the return is to the warmth and grandeur of a castle, where the chef prepares the day’s birds for dinner. That combination of wild sport, dogs and keepers on the hill, and refined comfort within historic stone walls is what guests carry home as the true essence of a Scottish sporting holiday.
