River & Green Coronavirus Travel Bulletin 3, 20 April 2020
Summary: Since our last Bulletin of the 14 April, we are now recommending that all bookings with start dates before the 7th June, should be rescheduled or cancelled. We are now sending Bulletins to all clients, irrespective of the imminence of their travel dates.
As you are probably aware, the Scottish Government has instructed that all hotels, guesthouses and self-catering establishments remain closed until further notice. Golf courses, fishing and shooting venues are also included in the list of closures. Furthermore, all non-essential travel is banned. The UK Government has just renewed these restrictions and they will now remain in effect until at least the 7th May.
We are now taking the view that these restrictions will persist for a minimum period of 1 additional month, beyond the 7th May. Consequently, we recommend that all bookings with start dates before the 7th June, should be postponed or cancelled at this time. For holidays with start dates beyond this date, we recommend no action, unless you have been advised of flight cancellations.
In strict accordance with our stated Terms & Conditions (https://www.river-green.com/terms-conditions/), if a cancellation is initiated by the client, after the balance payment has been made, no refund is due. We stress the importance of clients taking out travel insurance which covers for cancellation for any reason. However, we recognize that these are exceptional circumstances and we want to be as fair and as flexible as possible. We want to retain your custom and earn your loyalty.
All balance payments due 60 days before your holiday start date, will now fall due 30 days before your holiday start date. This measure will remain in force until we know that all relevant restrictions have been lifted
If a cancellation is initiated by the Company, our terms state that the client is entitled to a full refund. We will endeavour to uphold our obligations under this agreement, however we will request that refunds are deferred and paid in instalments over a period of time. The periods of time involved are unclear at present.
From the Company’s perspective, it will be very much preferred if clients are able to postpone and reschedule their holiday. At this time, we request that all clients with bookings commencing before the 7th June, contact us with a view to rearranging their trip for later this year or even for 2021.
Thank you in anticipation of your understanding. Please follow social isolation and please stay safe.
Kind regards
